Day 36: Gifts of the Spirit

“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.” — 1 Corinthians 12:7 (NKJV)

Jesus told His disciples in Acts 1:8, “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me…” He was speaking of a supernatural empowerment that would equip them to carry out His mission. And when the Spirit came, that promise was fulfilled—boldness, miracles, signs, and wonders followed.

Paul teaches that the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to every believer—not as badges of spiritual superiority, but as tools to build up the body of Christ. These are not natural talents or learned skills. They are supernatural empowerments: wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, tongues, and interpretation of tongues.

Each gift is a unique expression of the Holy Spirit working through a yielded vessel. The gifts differ, but the Giver is the same. And every gift is given “for the profit of all.” In other words, your gifts aren’t just for you—they’re for the people around you. They’re to strengthen, encourage, comfort, and reveal the love and power of Jesus to the Church and the world.

Today, ask the Holy Spirit to show you how He wants to move through you. Ask Him to teach you, train you, and make you sensitive to His voice. Don’t chase the gifts—yield to the Giver. Paul opened his teaching on spiritual gifts by saying, “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant” (1 Cor. 12:1). In other words, this isn’t a topic to avoid—it’s one to understand and walk in. Later, he adds, “Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts” (1 Cor. 14:1).

The gifts of the Spirit are not for a few—they are for the Church. For you. Desire them, learn about them, and let the Holy Spirit work through you to build up the body of Christ.
