Day 38: Fruit of the Spirit

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”
— Galatians 5:22–23 (NKJV)

Jesus said, “You will know them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:16). He wasn’t talking about outward success or spiritual gifts—He was talking about character. Real fruit. The kind that reveals what’s really growing on the inside.

Paul takes that principle and shows us what Spirit-produced fruit looks like. It’s not manufactured by trying harder—it’s cultivated through connection. Just like a branch can’t produce fruit by itself, we can’t produce Christ-like character apart from the Spirit. These qualities are the evidence that He’s at work in you.

The list isn’t a to-do list. It’s a picture of what becomes natural when your heart stays aware of your connection with God. Love flows. Peace stays. Joy doesn’t depend on circumstances. Patience grows. Kindness becomes your default. It’s not the fruit of your effort—it’s the fruit of the Spirit.

Too often we try to act spiritual while bypassing the Spirit. But fruit can’t be faked for long. The Spirit’s work always starts on the inside. And when you yield to Him—when you spend time with Jesus, meditate on the Word, and walk in step with the Spirit—the fruit comes naturally.

You don’t need to strain—just make space. Make space for Him to lead. Make space to be changed. Stay stirred up! Stay fixed and fervent! Your job isn’t to make the fruit happen—it’s to stay aware of who’s in you and let Him lead.

Today, don’t focus on what you lack. Focus on who you’re with. Ask the Holy Spirit to shape you, fill you, and bear His fruit through you. Over time, people will know you by the fruit—and it will point them straight to Jesus..
