“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.” — Colossians 3:18–21 (NKJV)
Jesus didn’t avoid the topic of family—He elevated it. He warned against religious traditions that neglected the care of one’s parents, praised children, and told stories that revealed the heart of a father toward a wandering son. His parable of the prodigal was more than a teaching—it was a portrait of how God wants families to love, forgive, and restore one another.
Paul built on that same foundation and turned it into clear, practical guidance. In Colossians 3 and Ephesians 5, he showed that a Spirit-led home is a place where love is more than a feeling—it’s a commitment to honor one another in Christ. Husbands are to love with patience, wives with respect, children with obedience, and parents with gentleness and wisdom.
This kind of home can’t be built by willpower alone. It flows from your identity in Christ. The more you allow Jesus to love you, the more you’ll find yourself loving like Him. You’ll forgive faster, serve more joyfully, and speak more kindly.
Your family is your first ministry. It’s where the Gospel is lived out in real time—in the ordinary routines, in conflict and resolution, in laughter and tears. It’s the soil where grace grows.
Let your home be a sanctuary, not just a structure. Let it reflect the peace of Christ and the joy of the Spirit.
Because love in the home doesn’t just bless your family—it changes the atmosphere for generations.
