“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” — Galatians 5:13 (NKJV)
Jesus didn’t come to be served—He came to serve. He knelt to wash feet, healed the outcasts, and gave His life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). Every moment of His ministry was marked by selfless love in action. That same spirit is now in us.
Paul reminds us that our freedom in Christ isn’t a license for selfishness—it’s an invitation to love. Freedom finds its highest purpose in service. And the motive matters: not obligation, not guilt, but love.
Love doesn’t look for recognition. It doesn’t wait to be asked. It sees a need and responds with compassion. Whether it’s holding a door or holding a burden, serving in love means your heart is engaged, not just your hands.
This world celebrates self-promotion. Jesus modeled self-denial. And Paul calls us to follow that path. You were set free for something more than comfort—you were freed to give your life away like Jesus did.
Serving isn’t about your title, your platform, or your visibility. It’s about your posture. Is your heart willing? Are your eyes open? The Spirit will always lead you toward people, toward compassion, toward love expressed tangibly.
And when you serve in love, something beautiful happens: Christ is revealed. Not just through what you say, but through how you live. People may forget your words, but they won’t forget the way you made them feel.
Today, ask the Holy Spirit: “Who can I serve today?” Look for the quiet needs. The unseen opportunities. The people who’ve been overlooked. You are never more like Jesus than when you serve with love.
Real greatness stoops low. Love puts others first. Freedom becomes service.
