“And raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” — Ephesians 2:6 (NKJV)
Most people live their Christian life trying to get closer to God—striving to reach Him, to earn His presence, to become worthy of His nearness. But Paul flips the script. He doesn’t say we will be seated with Christ—he says we already are. Right now, you are spiritually seated with Jesus in heavenly places.
Jesus promised this in John 14:3: “Where I am, there you may be also.” He wasn’t talking only about someday in heaven—He was pointing to our union with Him. Through His death, resurrection, and ascension, He brought us with Him. We’re not just forgiven; we’ve been elevated.
This isn’t about geography—it’s about authority. Being seated with Christ means you share in His victory, His access to the Father, and His spiritual authority. You’re not begging God to act—you’re partnering with Him from a position of power. You’re not fighting for victory—you’re enforcing the victory Jesus already won.
But here’s the catch: if you don’t know where you’re seated, you’ll live like a victim instead of a victor. You’ll pray from earth toward heaven instead of living from heaven toward earth. That’s why renewing your mind to your identity in Christ is so essential. You must see yourself as God sees you—seated with Christ, not crawling on the floor.
You don’t have to strive to be accepted—you are accepted. You don’t have to earn your way up—you’ve already been raised up. You don’t have to live under the weight of the world—you’ve been seated above it with Christ.
Your spiritual position determines your earthly perspective.
Today, let that truth sink in. Sit with it. Speak it over yourself. Let it change how you pray, how you live, how you respond to pressure. You’re not under the circumstances—you’re seated with Christ. And from that seat, you can live with boldness, peace, and power.
