“…and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.” — Colossians 3:10 (NKJV)
Jesus said, “If you’ve seen Me, you’ve seen the Father” (John 14:9). He didn’t just come to save us—He came to show us what God is truly like. Full of truth. Full of grace. Full of power and love. Jesus is the exact image of God. And through Him, that image is being restored in us.
When sin entered the world, the structural image of God in man remained, but the functional image—our moral purity, spiritual connection, relational harmony, and God-given authority—was damaged and distorted by fear, shame, pride, and selfishness. But in Christ, that image is restored. You are not who you used to be. You have put off the old man. You are being renewed. You are being shaped into the image of your Creator.
This renewal isn’t automatic—it happens “in knowledge.” Your mind must be renewed to the truth of who you are now in Christ. As you see Jesus more clearly, you begin to think differently, respond differently, and see yourself and others through a new lens—the lens of grace and truth.
You’re not trying to become Christlike through willpower. You are allowing the Holy Spirit to conform you to His image. And that transformation is rooted in revelation. You can’t walk in what you haven’t seen. That’s why the Word of God is essential—it shows you what is true about you now.
The old you was insecure, angry, afraid, selfish, or bound. But the new you is bold, joyful, kind, patient, generous, and holy—because Christ lives in you. You’re not becoming someone else—you’re learning to live as who you already are in Him.
Jesus restored us so we can once again represent Him in character, power, and presence. So keep renewing your mind, keep looking to Jesus, and keep stepping into the life He has already placed inside you.
