Day 1: Knowing Jesus is Eternal Life

“But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord...” — Philippians 3:7–8 (NKJV)

Paul had everything going for him—status, education, discipline, and spiritual credentials. But when he met Jesus, it changed everything. What he once saw as gain, he now considered loss, because nothing compared to simply knowing Christ. That became his one pursuit—the highest goal of his life.

Jesus said it clearly in John 17:3: “This is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” Notice He didn’t define eternal life as a destination, but as a relationship. Real life—eternal life—begins the moment we begin to know Him.

That’s because you aren’t just a physical body or a mind full of ideas—you are a spirit. And your spirit was created to know God. Eternal life isn’t something you wait for after death; it’s something you step into the moment you connect with Jesus personally. He’s not a concept to believe in or a system to follow—He’s a Person to walk with daily. And He’s always loving—always drawing you closer, never pushing you away.

Spiritual habits like prayer, time in the Word, worship, giving, and fellowship aren’t lifeless religious checklists—they are patterns that tune your heart to His. They help you become more aware of His presence, more responsive to His voice, and more aligned with His leading. You weren’t saved just to do good things—you were saved to know Him. And as you know Him, a heart is formed in you that naturally says and does what pleases Him.
Jesus isn’t the way to get what you really want—He is what you were created for.
So don’t aim for surface-level Christianity. Build your life around knowing Him. Let those righteous patterns shape you—not to earn favor, but to grow sensitive to His constant presence. That’s where life becomes real. That’s where your words carry weight. That’s where you begin to make a difference.
